THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING WEBTOON “HELLO WORLD!” TOWARDS WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT TENTH GRADE OF SMAN 1 PAKEL
Mastering writing skills is pivotal for students as it enhances their overall cognitive abilities and supports their educational journey. Unlike spontaneous oral communication, writing allows for the structured delivery of detailed information. The focus on descriptive text within educational curricula underscores its role in developing students' ability to articulate and depict specific subjects effectively. Educators have the opportunity to enhance their teaching approaches by incorporating educational tools such as Webtoon, which captivate students through user-friendly digital platforms, fostering enhanced literacy and creativity in the modern technological era.
The research aimed to investigate is it effective to utilize Webtoon in teaching descriptive writing to tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Pakel. The research employed a pre-experimental design, with Webtoon as the independent variable and the students' writing ability as the dependent variable. Specifically, the study focused on students in the X-9 Class. A test was used to assess the students' writing ability, and the data was analyzed using the t-test formula. The researcher obtained a paired t value of -13.609, indicating that it is less than the Sig (Two-Sided p) value of 0.001, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. In simpler terms, the findings suggest that incorporating Webtoon in teaching descriptive writing to tenth-grade students was effective.
